We would love to have you as a member of the First Family!
We believe that any baptized person is baptized into the “whole” church. Any person who has been confirmed or joined a church has joined the whole church. The local church is where we are fed and challenged to grow as disciples. There is a place for you at First United Methodist Church!
You may join the church any Sunday in one the following ways:
Profession of Faith and Baptism
If you have never joined a church before, we will receive you by profession of faith. If you have not been baptized, we will be happy to baptize you. We will ask you to repent of your sin, receive Jesus Christ as your Savior, and if you intend to lead a Christian life. When you answer "I do" to these questions, you have made your profession of faith. We will also ask you to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service, and your witness. Your answer is "I will."
Transfer from Another Denomination
We recognize your baptism and profession of faith from your previous denomination. We believe that your coming to join Fist Church is a statement of renewal of your faith in Jesus Christ. We will ask you to be loyal to the United Methodist Church and uphold it by your prayers, your presence, your gifts, your service and your witness. Your answer to this question is "I will." We will notify your previous church of your decision to unite with First Church.
Transfer from Another United Methodist Church
We are happy to receive you by transfer from another United Methodist Church. We believe that your coming to unite with First Church is in itself a statement of renewal of your faith and commitment to Christ and the Church. We will notify your previous church and inform them of your decision to join First Church.
God loves you just the way you are! God wants all of us to grow in faithfulness and to deepen our faith. Come join this community of faith on an exciting faith journey. Together we can be the people and the church God wants us to be!
You are encouraged to talk to Pastor Lennie any time about questions you may have regarding First Church or the United Methodist Church in general.
