Serve Others

Being a follower of Jesus is sharing His light with the world around you. Service is at the heart of everything we do at First UMC, close to home within the community of Great Bend and afar to serve all God’s people. The following ministries are just a few ways our congregation puts our mission into action.

Methodist Women

Methodist Women is an active group focused on ministry, service, and fellowship. The Walter-Evers Circle meets on the third Wednesdays at 1:30 p.m. in the parlor and the group does special workshops several times during the year. Each group welcomes new members. Women interested should contact LaVonne Gerritzen, president, or Nancy Carroll, vice president, for more information.

Noah's Ark Preschool

A mission of First UMC, Noah's Ark Preschool's purpose is to provide young learners with a loving and safe atmosphere where Christian principles are taught and practiced while providing a well-rounded program for social, physical, cognitive, and emotional development.

Mission in Honduras 

FELLOW MAN INTERNATIONAL (FMI) Mission. Over the years we’ve First UMC has developed close ties to help the FMI Mission and share God’s light in the world. Sometimes through donations of school supplies or congregation members overseas working hand-in-hand, the support we provide alongside Lisa Armstrong continues to bless countless people. Currently, workers from the Mission are traveling to the villages to check on the children and provide medical services. Read the monthly newsletters for more regular updates from Lisa and FMI. 

Operation Christmas Boxes and Youthville

Generous gifts are given by our community of faith to support others in need. Youthville supporting kids in foster care, donations are collected annually via the Giving Tree and distributed via Youthville, Newton KS.

Join us in service to others through the Fruit Fillers Ministry. 

Called to Serve

We can all make a difference in the lives of others – we are all called to discipleship. Join us in random acts of Kindness. Pick up your Kindness cards at the welcome center in the sanctuary and go out to spread love and kindess.
